How we create our guides
Every how-to guide is written from hands-on testing. We set up the controls and features ourselves, take our own screenshots, and show the date each guide was last checked, because apps and devices change often.
When a topic touches on health or child development, we rely on official guidance from bodies such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization and the NHS, and we link to those sources. We do not give medical advice, and we always suggest speaking to your doctor or health visitor about health concerns.
You can read the full details in our Editorial Policy.
Why I started Parently Guide
Hi, I’m Luqman, the founder of Parently Guide and a dad to a one-year-old.
Long before I became a parent, I kept noticing the same scene in homes, restaurants and family gatherings around me. A child refuses to eat, so a phone appears. Cartoons play while the spoon goes in. A toddler cries, and the tablet comes out to calm them down. I understood why. Parents are tired, busy and doing their best. But I also saw how quickly a quick fix became a daily habit, and how many children struggled to eat, play or settle without a screen in front of them.
When my own baby arrived, those moments stopped being something I simply noticed. They became decisions I had to make myself. I wanted to raise my child with healthy habits from the start, and I realised many parents want the same thing but don’t know where to begin, or feel guilty when screens have already become part of the routine.
That’s why I created Parently Guide. My aim is simple: to share clear, practical and judgement-free help, so parents know what to do instead of what not to do. That means step-by-step guides for setting up parental controls, realistic screen time rules, ideas for screen-free meals and play, and routines that work for real families.
I’m not a doctor or a psychologist, and I’ll never pretend to be. Where a topic touches on health or child development, I rely on official guidance from experts such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization and the NHS, and I link to it so you can read it yourself. What I can offer is years of experience working in digital media, a parent’s honest perspective, and a commitment to testing everything I recommend.
Every family is different, and no parent gets it right every day, including me. If Parently Guide helps you have one calmer mealtime, one easier conversation about screens or one more hour of play away from the phone, it’s doing its job.
